Film Insert Molding (FIM) enables one-step fabrication of plastic components with a decorated or functional surface. In this process, a plastic film printed on the reverse side is formed, cut to size and back-injected with plastic.

A reliable and versatile ink system is essential for printers to offer high-quality products. The Mara Mold MPX ink system from Marabu meets all requirements for adhesion, flexibility, and optical density.
Mara Mold MPX was developed specifically for Film Insert Molding (FIM) applications on PC films, back injected with PC or PC/ABS. It is characterized by particulary good adhesion values in combination with a very flexible ink film and outstanding wahout resistance. With this two-component ink system, no additional adhesive layer (tie-coat) is necessary to achieve a high bonding strenght to the resin, thus potentially will result in reducing the number of ink layers.
The FIM Demo Part from Marabu is manufactured under production conditions in several steps: Printing, drying, molding and back-injection. It is designed to test the ink for maximum resistance and formability. The entire manufacturing process takes place in our in-house printing center and FIM technical center.
In addition to Film Insert Molding, our ink systems also perform in many other automotive applications, such as exterior and interior components.
