Mara® Mold MPX.
THE ink system for film insert molding (FIM)
Mara Mold MPX is ideal for film insert molding (FIM) applications with polycarbonate (PC) films and provides a large processing window between printing and injection molding. This screen printing ink adheres excellently to the resin and can withstand high temperatures and strong forming. It is solvent-based and two-component.
- Excellent cohesion and bonding strenght between the film, ink and resin enable high peel values
- Flexible ink film allows very good forming and narrow curves and can be adjusted by varying the percentage of hardener
- Non-conductive black is fully compatible with conductive inks for IME (Inmold Electronics)
- No additional adhesive layer is required, which minimizes the number of ink layers and costs

- Silicone-free, glossy, 2 component ink, high flexibility, high temperature resistance, excellent adhesion to injection-moulded resins (PC)

Ink adjustment:
- Stir thoroughly to ensure homogeneous mixing
- 2-component ink, mix hardener thoroughly
- Do not process below 15 °C
- Avoid exposure to high humidity after printing
- Let the mixture rest for 15 min before use
- Pot life: 8 h at 20-25 °C and 45-60 % RH
Metallics: 6 %
Basic shades / Black:
- 2 % for a high degree of deformation
- up to max. 9 % for direct injection with a low degree of deformation
- Absolute cleanliness required for stencils, squeegees, ink pumps, tubes and injectors
- Manual follow-up cleaning with silicone-free cleaner after automatic washing
- Watch out for adhesive tapes
- some contain silicone-based release agents
Drying:
- Tunnel drying with three hot air zones at 80 °C / 175 °F, followed by an active cooling zone.
- Optionally: IR emitters after the second hot-air zone operating at approximately 50 %.
- After tunnel drying: tempering in a drying rack within a convection oven (3 h / 80 °C / 175 °F).
Printing parameters:
Mesh: 90-40 to 140-30.
Stencils: Capillary films (15-20 µm) or emulsions and combination stencils.
