Cover your work area and lay out all the materials.
Apply the desired color directly from the liner to the box or folder. You can place individual dots or lines of color side by side—depending on the desired result.
Pull the squeegee across the paint in a smooth, even stroke, applying consistent pressure. The semi-transparency of the acrylic paint creates delicate areas of color—overlapping strokes produce new blended shades and add depth to the surface. Wipe the squeegee on a paper towel after each stroke.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 with additional colors. The areas of color can overlap—that’s precisely what makes the squeegee art technique so appealing. Loosely spaced round or square areas of color work well for the box, while continuous stripes or diagonal lines create a particularly graphic effect on the folders.
Use the permanent marker to label folders or boxes as desired—for example, with their contents or a keyword. The fine tip is also great for adding small decorative details or lines to complete the design.
