HOW IT IS DONE:

1

Before painting, wash the pillowcases once without fabric softener to remove the finish. Let the pillowcases dry, then iron them. Cover your work area and prepare your materials.

2

Sketch the desired design with a pencil.

Orange pillowcase: Lightly sketch the words “HAPPY Halloween”—“HAPPY” in block letters, “Halloween” in cursive.

3

Nature Pillowcase: Scatter several ghost figures of various sizes and poses across the entire surface of the pillow and sketch them out—each ghost can have its own facial expression!

4

Slide a piece of cardboard or a piece of sturdy paper into the pillowcase to prevent the ink from bleeding through to the back.

5

Shake the Textil Painter vigorously before first use until you can clearly hear the mixing balls rattling. Then remove the cap and gently press the tip onto a neutral surface (e.g., paper) a few times until the ink appears. Test it on the paper and then…

Orange pillowcase: Use the black Textil Painter Glitter to trace the word “HAPPY” in even block letters. For “Halloween,” trace over the letters in a loose cursive style. Use the silver Painter to add a shadow and a small pumpkin as an accent next to the lettering.

Natural Pillowcase: Trace the outlines of the ghosts and faces, alternating between the different color variations (black, silver, gold), and let them dry thoroughly.

Cover the dried pillowcase with a pressing cloth or dish towel and iron it on a medium setting (cotton, no steam) for about 2–3 minutes from the back or through the cloth. Alternatively, set the colors by baking the pillowcases in the oven at 150°C for 8 minutes. Once set, the colors are wash-fast up to 40°C.

TIPS & TRICKS
  • Even while you're drawing, shake the pen every now and then and press the tip briefly to ensure the ink flows evenly.
