BUNNY PILLOW WITH MARABU TEXTIL PAINTER AND KiDS TEXTIL MARKER.

If your favorite pillow has bunny ears, it must be homemade! With Marabu Textile Painters, the bunny face is painted quickly and the ears are sewn on with matching fabric. A fun project for kids, who can help draw the face with KiDS textile markers.

HOW IT IS DONE:

Before painting, wash the cushion cover without fabric softener to remove the finish. Allow the pillowcase to dry and iron.
First, insert a piece of cardboard inside the cushion cover to prevent the paint from seeping through.

Now you can use the Textile Painter to paint on the bunny's face. Even the youngest children can complete this project with the KiDS Textile Painter. Make sure that the zipper is not on the top where the ears will be added later.

Allow the paint to dry for about 30 minutes, then iron each painted area (30 x 30 cm) for 3 minutes at cotton temperature without steam. Fixing can also be done in the oven at 150°C. This takes about 8 minutes (except for synthetic and blended fabrics and accessories that are not heat resistant).

The next step is to prepare the ears. First, cut out a template of the desired shape from paper and transfer it four times onto linen or cotton fabric with a pencil. You can also upcycle old fabric scraps. Then cut out the shapes, leaving a seam allowance of about 1 cm. Place 2 shapes on top of each other and secure with pins.

The ears are then sewn together by hand or machine using a needle and thread.

The next step is to turn the fabric inside out and fill it with some cotton wool to give it some plasticity.

Finally, sew the ears to the top of the pillowcase.

TIPS & TRICKS
  • You can also use a stencil to make it easier to paint the bunny's face. Prepare the template and slide it into the pillowcase. If the fabric is light-colored, the template will show through and the kids can easily trace it with the fabric marker.
