Trendy coffee mug with hand painted designs
Café Olé. These trendy coffee mugs will make coffee taste twice as nice – the perfect gift idea.
How it is done:
The porcelain should be free from dust, grease and rinse aid before painting. Start by cleaning the coffee mugs with white spirit or dishwashing liquid. Wrap a sheet of adhesive film smoothly around the mug and draw fantasy designs with a ballpoint pen. Cut off the excess film at the top and bottom of the mug.
Remove the film and cut out all ornaments with a craft knife.
Adhere the stencil with the "holes" to one of the mugs (A: positive stencil – the "holes" will be brown), the cut out ornaments on a second mug (B: negative stencil – the areas with the ornaments will remain white).
Cover approx. 1.5 cm at the top of the second mug with masking tape. Then stipple both mugs with the 3 colours – thin, irregular layers of colour will look more lively. Air bubbles can be just "blown away". Set highlights with gold as the last colour.
Leave to dry for 1 hour, then remove stencils and tape. Any unwanted splashes of paint can now be removed with white spirit and cotton swabs. Leave the mugs to dry for 73 hours. The paint will be dishwasher-safe after drying.
