I love shabby – vintage look chest of drawers!
Old or boring furniture gets a new life with Marabu Chalky Chic chalk paints and decoupage technique. Often a little paint and some stylish printed paper is all it takes to transform an old object into an individual vintage item. Are the drawers the only parts of an old chest that are still usable? Why not turn them into a decorative box! A pretty knob acts as a reminder of the drawer’s former life…
The vintage look is currently full on trend and with Marabu Chalky Chic chalk paints it is really easy to achieve. With paper or serviettes and Decoupage Glue you can quickly transfer your favourite design to the furniture or home accessory.
How it is done:
Remove the drawer from the unit, take off the doors and handles and sand off the old paint if necessary. Prepare the surface – for an ideal result it should be free from grease and dust. Apply the Salmon shade to the entire surface with a brush or roller. Leave to dry. If desired, apply a second layer in Edelweiss and smudge immediately with a wet cloth (wet technique).
Apply the Decoupage Glue to the paper. Place the paper on the surface and carefully smooth it down. Leave to dry and reassemble the furniture parts if necessary.
Tip: Serviettes are also good to use. Cut out the desired design and lift off the top layer. Then place it on the dry surface and generously cover it and the surface with Decoupage Glue. Start from the centre of the design and brush outwards to the edges to prevent creases.
